It's not every day that a roguelike completely takes me by surprise, but I can safely say as much for Gunhead. A mech-based first-person shooter where you glide around a randomly generated alien spacecraft, there's a little bit of Borderlands in the art style and Titanfall 2 in gameplay, even if does do something wildly different from what I was expecting.

Following its Nintendo Direct announcement. At Nintendo's Direct broadcast last month, Bandai Namco lifted the lid on an adventure game adaptation of the popular manga and anime series Spy x Family. SpyxAnya: Operation Memories will be released on the Switch and multiple other platforms in Japan on 21st December 2023 and will follow with a worldwide launch in 2024. Wonder on the Switch and in the lead-up to this, Nintendo's New York Store has announced it will be hosting a special "pre-launch celebration" ahead of the game's midnight launch. Redfall was a disappointment upon release, thanks to its open world which felt - as Ed wrote in his Redfall review - like "playing through an already abandoned live service." Yet though its sparsely populated world made it feel that way, Arkane haven't abandoned Redfall. Yesterday they released its second major patch with a spate of fixes and attempted improvements.

The Commandos series is due to return sometime next year with Commandos: Origins, a new game from a new developer. It returns the series to its stealth-tactics routes to tell the story of how the squad of sneaky, rope-shimmying Nazi-shivvers first came together in the early days of World War 2. Bandai Namco has filed a new US trademark for the name "Sparking! Zero". A Japanese lawyer representing Bandai Namco filed the trademark application at the United States Patent and Trademark Office on 26th September. Whilst it may not sound like much, this is pretty much the only Dragon Ball Z-flavoured news we've had since the new Budokai Tenkaichi instalment – which is called Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! series in Japan – was announced back in March.
