Apple Ordered to Pay $5.7 Billion Over Haptic Patent Infringement

Apple has been ordered to pay $5.7 billion in damages to Taction Technology after a federal jury found it had infringed two of the haptics company's patents, reported CNBC over the weekend. Taction sued Apple in 2021, arguing that Apple's Taptic Engine in the company's Apple Watches and iPhones uses its inventions without proper license or authority. Apple initially had the case dismissed in 2023, but the Federal Circuit later revived it. The jury trial began September 14, and seven jurors delib...

Review: RuneScape: Dragonwilds (Switch 2) - A Slow-Burn Survival-Crafting RPG That Underwhelms Visually

Phr33 st00f pl0x. A few years ago when I tried Old School RuneScape for the first time, I spent hours puttering around the starting area taking on basic quests, chopping down trees, and slaying goblins in the surrounding wilds. After each lengthy session, I would exit the game, lean back in my chair with a contented smile, and realise that I had accomplished essentially nothing of note. This is the quintessential RuneScape experience: an MMO so expansive and storied that you could easily drop hu...

This week in PC games: new Ace Combat, Transport Fever 3, and a System Shock-alike set on a disco space station

Happy this week all! ...Ugh, you are all still here. When I went on holiday last week, I was hoping that I'd return to find that the whole "videogame journalism career" thing was just a fleeting delusion brought on by excess consumption of unripe pears. Perhaps I've actually been a wealthy gentleman gadabout this whole time, free of any need to keep the hellmouth topped up with layoff reports in order to stave off deprivation and disaster. The one consolation - other than EIC Julian's many encou...
