Playing the riff from Smoke on the Water on a cat piano may be possible in composer sim Offbeat, if you've got more musical talent than me

Playing the riff from Smoke on the Water on a cat piano may be possible in composer sim Offbeat, if you've got more musical talent than me

Duh, duh, duh. Duh, duh, de-duh. Duh, duh, duh. Duh, duh. That's how the riff to Deep Purple's tune about a fire burning down a Swiss casino goes. Blizzard's calling time on Overwatch's hero customising Stadium mode, and I may well be the only person that's sad about that

Live service games face an interesting conundrum, I think: how do you keep offering the core experience of a game while also periodically reinventing it, and varying it, in such a way that will make it feel new? Overwatch is a game facing such a conundrum, and Blizzard has tried all kinds of different things to mix it up: switching to five-person teams from six, developing a PvE mode that never materialised, and for the past year or so, offering a MOBA-like mode called Stadium. But now Stadium h...

Baldur's Gate series overlords Hasbro take $56 million hit after cancelling several games due out in "2028 and beyond", with Exodus and Warlock unaffected

Hasbro, parent company of Baldur's Gate IP holders Wizards of the Coast and backer of Exodus developers Archetype Entertainment, have announced a $56 million impairment as part of their latest financial results. The Incident at Galley House review

There's a machine in The Incident at Galley House you'll spend an awful lot of time with, and it's a wonderfully tactile thing. It's part mixing desk, part paranormal enigma, part over-engineered Guess Who game, and full of clicky dials, chunky buttons, and a big old whooshy lever you're forever manipulating. And if your deductive instincts are good enough, it whirs into crackling life like a haunted slot machine, rigged to deliver strange psychic visions.
