(Not stirred). The latest UK charts are in, and just like last week, the top spot has been claimed by a newcomer — another one that's heading to Switch 2 at some point, no less. It's 007 First Light that's snuck off with the gold in its debut week, beating last week's champ, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and sending it down to second. We can't wait to check both of these out on Switch 2... whenever they give us the new release dates.

Video games should investigate dabbling in product placement as heavily as some movies do, just in case it can help provide an alternative to live-service monetisation via microtransactions, former Dragon Age director has suggested. Yes! Yes, I say, because every single game should follow 007 First Light's lead and force you to choose between seven different colour variants of the same branded timepiece. I'm serious, this is what the industry needs. The time is now. Everyone must pick a watch!

In addition to teasing WWDC 2026 with a new tagline today, Apple has shared a wallpaper, playlist, and a "Get Ready" video ahead of the event. iPhone, iPad, and Mac versions of the wallpaper are available to download on Apple's website. The wallpaper features a dark color scheme with a glowing Apple logo, which likely hints at Siri's rumored new design coming with iOS 27. The wallpaper page has a "Glow all out" tagline, which adds to the "All systems glow" and "Coming bright up" taglines that Ap...

As one of the best real-time strategy games of all time, StarCraft 2 is far from dead, but 2020 marked the end of content development for Legacy of the Void and the base free multiplayer experience. Since then, a few more balance patches have hit, but it's been a few years since the last major shakeup. Now, Blizzard Entertainment has surprised everyone with a shocking update.

Pick (axe) me. Just when you thought Minecraft couldn't possibly exist on another platform, a rating board comes along to suggest otherwise. The ESRB website has been updated with a Minecraft listing specifically for Switch 2 — a different listing to the ones for PS5 and Switch/Xbox Series (thanks for the heads up, Nintendo Everything). It's another E10+ for fantasy violence and in-game purchases, naturally, but it also suggests that maybe (maybe) another Nintendo Switch 2 Edition could be on th...

Apple's annual developers conference WWDC returns for 2026 next week, and the company has teased the event with a new "All systems glow" tagline. "All systems glow" is a play on the phrase "all systems go," and it likely hints at Siri's rumored new design on iOS 27. Both a dedicated Siri app and a new "Search or Ask" feature in the iPhone's Dynamic Island will reportedly have a dark color scheme with glowing elements, as shown in leaked images last week. Apple's previous tagline for WWDC 2026 wa...

Once upon a time, Minesweeper was a deceptively simple logic puzzler you'd find bundled on many Windows PCs, but "deceptive simplicity" ain't enough for today's Maximum Gamer, whose brain has been honed through years of multiple browser tab usage to operate in 10450302 dimensions at once. And so I give you Minesweeper: Next-Gen. It's broadly the same process of trying to clear a board of hidden explosives, with numbers on cleared tiles indicating the number of bombs nearby. But these boards - th...

Change the tune. Nintendo has often been accused of keeping its fans on their toes when it comes to announcements, and it's fair to say that nobody was expecting the Kyoto veteran to reveal (alongside The Pokémon Company) a tiny Game Boy-sized music player earlier this year. Released to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon series, Game Boy Jukebox / Game Music Collection is a tiny replica of the classic monochrome handheld that comes with 45 equally tiny cartridges, each of which, w...
