Star Wars: X-Wing and MechWarrior veterans release In The Black, a "serious" space combat sim with Newtonian physics

Star Wars: X-Wing and MechWarrior veterans release In The Black, a "serious" space combat sim with Newtonian physics

In The Black is a new space combat sim that is "laser focused on the pilot experience" - this being the one, entirely justifiable and indeed, pleasantly grisly usage of "laser focused" I have ever encountered, while quoting a press release. It's the work of Impeller Studios, a company led by Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance gameplay and story lead David Wessman and MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries director Jack Mamais. Those are certainly the right CVs for the job. I imagine they called the studio "Impeller...

After DLSS 5 furore, Resident Evil Requiem director says fan criticism of Grace Ashcroft's AI-powered makeover means team 'got her design right'

Resident Evil Requiem protagonist Grace Ashcroft seemed to be an instant hit with series fans following the game's launch back in February; so much so that when Nvidia unveiled an AI-powered DLSS 5 makeover for the character just a few weeks later, the pushback was strong and swift. And speaking to Eurogamer in the aftermath of that controversy, Requiem game director Koshi Nakanishi has said he sees the passionate response as positive, suggesting it means the development team got Grace's origina...

Motorslice, out today, looks to pick up where Mirror's Edge, Nier Automata and Shadow of the Colossus left off

There's a severe drought of sharp looking parkour games at the moment. The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake got canned, and I don't expect we'll be seeing anything new of Mirror's Edge for a while, if ever. Today is a good day for changing that, I think, as Motorslice arrives on the scene bringing the aforementioned running around and doing sick tricks games into conversation with the likes of Shadow of the Colossus and Nier Automata.
