The Roblox-like VR title Rec Room is shutting down after operating for a decade. The free-to-play social game is closing its doors because the developers "never quite figured out" how to make it profitable, despite attracting 150 million players. "We spent a long time trying to find a way to make the numbers work," the team wrote in a blog post. "But with the recent shift in the VR market, along with broader headwinds in gaming, the path to profitability has gotten tough enough that we’ve made t...

Pocketpair has finally done it. After revealing it as an April Fools joke a few years ago, the company has officially announced that the Palworld Dating Sim - called Palworld: More Than Just Pals - is real and in active development. It even threw in a nice nod to Slay the Spire 2 in there for good measure.

If you've ever longed for your Steam library to be a bunch of shelves littered with physical games you can touch, sniff, and agonise about having to shift if you move house, let me introduce you to Boxroom. It takes all of the games you've either bought for pennies in a sale and never got around to playing or paid through the nose for on release and have put 1000 hours into out of sheer sunk-cost fallacy. It sticks their front covers onto boxes you can use to fill a cosy customisable computer ro...

If Arc Raiders showed the world what an extraction shooter is, Marathon demonstrates, in unambiguous fashion, what extractions shooters are about. Whatever anomalous conditions coalesced to make Embark's game so oddly affable (at least in solos), they are entirely absent among the abandoned megastructures of Tau Ceti IV. The phrase "Don't shoot!" would have any seasoned Shell runner cackling in your face, were it not for the fact that those precious seconds could be spent killing you.

Gee, ya think? The Super Mario Galaxy Movie releases this week (tomorrow, in fact!) and, perhaps unsurprisingly, it seems like it's set to be a massive success. According to Deadline (thanks, Eurogamer), the movie is projected to make $350m worldwide across the five-day Easter weekend. While this is slightly lower than the $377m achieved by The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023, the projected domestic gross of $175m is quite a bit higher than the original's $146m.
