I think Nioh 2 is a near-perfect game. Team Ninja, inspired by but never beholden to the Souls-like formula, has created a viable alternative to FromSoft's games with the Nioh series. Stance-based combat adds a fighting game twist, and the tight level design, commitment to historical Japanese settings, and more traditional storytelling methods allow the series to stand out from all the other contenders to the genre throne.
