Now the BG3 Stardew Valley mod is safe, its creators reveal what’s coming next

It’s been a turbulent few days for fans of both Baldur’s Gate 3 and Stardew Valley. First, the highly anticipated ‘Baldur’s Village’ mod, which brings the cast of BG3 to Pelican Town, was released to widespread acclaim. Then, Dungeons and Dragons owner Wizards of the Coast decided to issue a takedown notice on the project, leaving it in limbo. Everything has worked out since then, thankfully, with WotC saying the DMCA was a mistake and apologizing for the issue altogether. Now, the modding team ...

Escape From Tarkov maps, raids, and bosses could get a giant overhaul, BSG hints

From Woods to Factory, Ground Zero and the new Labyrinth, your choice of Escape From Tarkov map is dependent on your current in-game needs. It comes down to the rotation, and which part of the EFT world is currently most likely to provide decent PvP versus rare loot or a boss fight. With rivals like Arena and Gray Zone Warfare competing for the extraction shooter top spot, Battlestate Games, naturally, wants to keep Tarkov feeling fresh. According to the realistic shooter’s lead designer, a sign...

Your Steam Deck stability is at risk if you update to the new SteamOS

A new stable version of SteamOS was released overnight, but it has proved anything but stable. SteamOS 3.6.24 appears to have broken the quick access menu, and in particular the TDP slider. The TDP limit is also broken, leading to overheating and the Steam Deck being put into a boot loop. While it may still be the best handheld gaming PC, no one said the Steam Deck is perfect, and this latest SteamOS update has somehow made it to the stable channel despite these issues being present.

Wait, Is The Pokémon Company Finally Making Good On Its TCG Reprint Promise?

Select restocks seemingly coming soon. After a couple of disastrous launches for recent Trading Card Game expansions, The Pokémon Company released a statement last week stating that it is "actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity". We read the promise with a raised eyebrow — it was nearly identical to one TPC released in January, after all — but one week later, it looks like the pledge might be coming to fruition. As spott...

Union workers at Fallout and Elder Scrolls company ready to strike against Microsoft after two years of haggling

A video game union representing around 300 workers at Elder Scrolls, Doom and Fallout publisher ZeniMax Media have overwhelmingly voted for strike action if they’re unable to thrash out a deal over wages and workplace conditions with Microsoft, ZeniMax’s parent company. The unionised workers and Microsoft have been haggling over things like remote work options and outsourcing game testing for nearly two years; now, they say they’re prepared to down tools if their concerns aren’t addressed.

More PC gamers now use AMD Radeon GPUs than before, but not the ones you expect

AMD has just recorded its largest GPU market share on the Steam Survey for years, but the increase has nothing to do with the company’s latest AMD Radeon RX 9070-series graphics cards. While Nvidia is still the undisputed king of PC gaming GPUs when it comes to the survey, with the top 13 GPUs all being GeForce models, AMD has now increased its share of the results to 16.9%, with Nvidia on 75%. On the face of it, that’s a massive increase compared to the paltry 11.5% AMD recorded in the February...

Deadlock will add another page to the House of Gaben’s online catalogue, but one vital chapter in the history of Valve’s experiments has been forgotten. Supposedly released as part of a Half-Life update more than 20 years ago, Ricochet is a competitive FPS seemingly set inside a virtual reality - or maybe outer space. Obscure, mysterious, and often described as the worst ga...

Review: Croc: Legend Of The Gobbos (Switch) - A Solid, If Unspectacular Retro Adventure

The closest we've ever gotten to a 3D Yoshi game. Back in the mid to late ‘90s when the fifth generation of consoles was still going strong, mascot platformers were all the rage. Hoping to take advantage of the then-growing trend, Argonaut Software—best known for its work on Star Fox and the Super FX chip for the SNES—made a pitch to Nintendo for a new 3D platformer starring Yoshi. Nintendo shot them down, but Argonaut wasn’t ready to give up on the concept, so the team retooled it into an origi...

Monster Train 2 rolls up with a release date

The makers of cardy roguelike Monster Train 2 announced a release date yesterday, revealing that it'll be pulling into Steam libraries and honking its big "all aboard" horn in less than two months. Do you have the capacity to allow another deckbuilder into the overcrowded dining car of your brain? I probably don't. But I do have fond memories of the first game's crunchy runs and over-the-top card combos. Hmmm, maybe another rail trip or two hundred would be nice.

There are few things more heartwarming than a solo developer seeing breakout success, especially if their game is a wholesome testament to community spirit, entrepreneurship, and innovative street cleaning solutions like Schedule I. Pretty close, though, is a solo developer pulling a 'Miyazaki lying about Elden Ring', and underselling just how big their game actually is in the run-up to release.
