Random: This Robot's Wii Bowling Skills Put Our Best Efforts To Shame

Spare time. We challenge any one of you to admit that at some point in the mid-2000s, you didn't try to get a perfect game in Wii Sports bowling. Of course you did! The console's pack-in title had all of us swinging, punching and putting like there was no tomorrow, and the bowling mode might have been the most approachable of the bunch, making that 300-point game feel all the more achievable. The problem was, it was really hard. No matter how hard we tried 20 years ago, a perfect game always fel...

The original Dark Souls is getting the Seamless Co-op mod, over a decade later

Elden Ring’s Seamless Co-op mod is by far the most popular fan creation FromSoftware’s magnum opus has ever seen. Since then, its creator ‘Yui’ has also brought the mod over to Dark Souls 3, and now they’ve taken it even further. That’s right: Seamless Co-op is finally coming to the first Dark Souls.

Portable nostalgia. We've all got a favourite Nintendo console jingle, right? Y'know, the start-up tune that would play whenever you boot up the system. Much like the consoles themselves, they represent a moment in time; a nugget of nostalgia that effortlessly brings back cosy memories in just a few short seconds. Now, Nintendo is looking to provide that nostalgia in the form of keychains available at the Museum in Kyoto, Japan (thanks, Nintendeal). Presented in what looks to be simple cube desi...

Counter-Strike 2 is doing exceptionally well. Apple prototyped a larger ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air with a 6.9-inch display, but ultimately decided not to go ahead with the device because of fears that it could be susceptible to bending, according to a new report. R.E.P.O. is Steam's latest viral horror despite its high mate requirement - but the devs are working on matchmaking

R.E.P.O is a six player co-op extraction spooper that currently sits atop Steam's best seller charts, having amassed around 70k players the week following early access launch on Feb 26, and another 160k since then. That's around 230 thousand players avoiding knifey chef frogs and persistent ducklings while extracting valuables to fill a cash quota. It's a bit Lethal Company but even heavier on the absurdity. As far as I can tell, this popularity comes down to two things. Firstly, the game is a v...

Total War: Warhammer 3's next updates will tackle "anti-player bias" and self-destructive AI

Back in Total FebWar, the Total War: Warhammer III team penned a desperate missive in entrail fluids, full of scrawled warnings about the changes coming to the strategy game's AI. With their last ounce of strength, they rolled out a beta test for the planned tweaks. Now, the results are in, circling in the eerily fallow wake of over 50,000 campaigns, like carrion crows with tangible datasets grasped tight in their beaks. Thanks, death crows! What a resolution. A newly updated patent published on 13th March 2025 provides further details to Nintendo's proposed AI resolution upscaling solution for the upcoming Switch 2 (thanks, Game Rant). The patent goes into detail regarding how AI upscaling can be implemented and even includes some ...

9 Kings is a roguelike city builder that's actually just an excuse to launch rocks at people

I very much recommend the Steam demo for strategy game 9 Kings, so it's with no shade I say that I'm using 'strategy' here the same way a tube passenger might use a hardback of Ulysses to envelop their novelisation of 2 Fast 2 Furious. Griddy placement and tower defence tactics are involved, but this is primarily a game about launching rocks at dickheads. This is fine by me: launching rocks at dickheads is as solid a premise as any videogame needs to have.

The Maw: what's new in PC games this week?

Good day to ye, reader! I'm not sure what the weather's like in other regions, but here in London we're approaching the unhallowed time of year when grown men are overtaken by the urge to wear shorts. I saw a few unclothed kneecaps abroad last week, but thankfully the boreal winds returned and snuffed them out like premature daffodils. The forecast right now is clear skies till Friday. Pray for us. Alternatively, play some new PC games. Here's a list.
