The gigantic new Civilization 7 update could just be enough to win you back

If you played Civilization 7 during release week and decided it wasn’t the sequel that you were expecting, now might be the time to give it a second try. The user interface, progression, and certain behaviors of enemy rulers have all been criticized by the Civ 7 community; the response to Firaxis's 4X follow-up has in fact been so mixed that Civilization 6, despite being eight years old, now regularly has a larger number of players on Steam. But alongside the Crossroads of the World DLC, Firaxis...

Marvel Rivals Clone Rumble is saying goodbye balance, hello free rewards

If you’ve been begging NetEase Games to institute a version of role lock in Marvel Rivals, the fingers on the monkey’s paw have started to curl. Instead of a new take on Overwatch’s longstanding queue and balance solution, we’re getting a brand new game mode, and it’s going to be limited to just two selectable heroes per team. So if you want to play matches where you mirror the other team on purpose, this is your chance.

Acclaim is back from the ashes to support indie games and revive its own classic franchises

Acclaim was one of the biggest gaming brands in the '80s and '90s, but the company ran into trouble in the the early 2000s. It filed for bankruptcy in 2004 and it was sold off in parts. Now, more than twenty years later, a group of industry veterans has revived the publisher with the aim of supporting indie developers and revitalizing its own gaming franchises. The company will help indie studios on the funding, marketing and PR fronts. That's very welcome news, especially at a time when funding...

I've jumped straight into Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced on PC, and the difference in performance and image quality is huge. The improvements aren't just visual, though, with loading times also improved massively, provided you're using an SSD. The GTA V system requirements have been adjusted for this new version of the game, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU is now part of the recommended specs. GTA V Le...

New Civilization 7 update adds a confusing Natural Wonder plus tweaks to the UI, AI and Age mechanics

Sid Meier's Civilization 7 has a new Sid Meier's game update that makes changes to Sid Meier's user interface, leader AI, Age mechanics, Mementos and naval unit handling. Developers Firaxis have also stirred in a free bonus Natural Wonder, Sid Meier's Bermuda Triangle. Leaving aside for the moment the on-going arguments about whether (Sid Meier's - OK, enough of that now) Civilization 7 is an unambiguous low point for the series, or yet another flawed 4X strategy sim that will find its feet via ...

Forget foldable phones, Samsung just made a hinged Steam Deck competitor

Samsung is no stranger to foldable screen tech, with it being the first company to really push the idea of foldable phones with its Samsung Galaxy Fold and Samsung Galaxy Flip phones. However, now the company has taken the only logical next step and demoed a new concept, showing off a gaming handheld that can do the same screen-bending trick to halve its footprint, making for an even more portable gaming device. Samsung doesn't currently make a device that would compete with the likes of the Ste...

Shure’s MoveMic 88+ is the first wireless direct-to-phone microphone with selectable polar patterns

Shure just revealed the MoveMic 88+ wireless direct-to-phone microphone with four selectable polar patterns. The company says this is the first-ever microphone of its type to offer this feature. For the uninitiated, polar patterns dictate where a microphone picks up sound. Most of the mics in this category offer just an omnidirectional polar pattern, which records equally from all sides. Some companies swap that out for a cardioid pattern, which picks up audio from a single direction. The MoveMi...

WWE 2K25 system requirements are so low they don’t even need an RTX GPU

What are the WWE 2K25 system requirements? While 2K is set to innovate when it comes to gameplay for its WWE license this year, introducing The Island as a new shared-world game mode, the game's PC demands have stagnated, meaning there might be little in the way of technological advancements coming. You won't need the best graphics card to play WWE 2K25 on PC, and if you were able to play last year's game with decent performance, you're already set for this year. Very few changes have been made,...

Late last year, Australia passed a law banning social media for all people under 16 years old. Now, some of those companies — namely Meta, TikTok and Snap — are not happy at one exception: YouTube. Australia has deemed YouTube as a critical education tool and is allowing use, despite an original assumption that the Google-owned platform would be included, Reuters and The Guardian reports.  This follows last month's report from Australia's eSafety Commissioner, which found that YouTube is the mos...
