Balatro's Ridiculous 18+ Age Rating Is Finally Lowered

Justice is dealt. PEGI (Pan European Game Information) has announced that it has lowered the age rating for the smash-hit poker roguelike Balatro (thanks, Eurogamer). The game drew plenty of attention when PEGI rated it 18+ in Europe, citing its resemblance to the real-world game of poker as the main catalyst. It reasoned that players may be able to transfer knowledge gained from Balatro into actual games of poker, but following a formal appeal, it appears that PEGI has finally seen some sense.

New Balatro rating means it’s no longer only suitable for adults

European videogame rating system PEGI has officially rescinded its 18 label for Balatro, after complaints were lodged with the board concerning its relationship to gambling. PEGI now says the poker-themed roguelike contains “mitigating fantastical elements” that warrant an age rating of 12 or above instead.

Nvidia is facing a growing manufacturing issue with its latest graphics cards. While these new Nvidia GPUs are now among the best graphics cards you can buy, this growing manufacturing issue adds to a series of problems the company has been facing since it launched...

The Andor season 2 trailer looks like a blast, even for Star Wars’ darkest show

Polygon icon 78 days, 23 hours, 11 minutes ago by Matt Patches

Andor season 2 is finally here… and looks like a lot of fun? Despite being depressing as hell? The Star Wars series was planned by creator Tony Gilroy as a two-season, 24-episode series. While various hiccups have delayed the series, including Gilroy’s frankly inspiring involvement in the 2023 WGA strike, the back half of Andor...

Is Monster Hunter Wilds Steam Deck compatible? Valve's handheld struggled to run Monster Hunter Wilds during beta phases and, given that the recently released benchmark tool isn't offering any hope of optimized performance, all signs suggest this is one game that isn't suited to the Steam Deck. The Monster Hunter Wilds system requirements are notable for requiring upscaling to be used to hit 60fps at 1080p, even if you meet the minimum demands. This leaves the Steam Deck in a tricky spot, as the...

New RTS Tempest Rising is like the ideal version of a modern Command and Conquer

Tempest Rising is always going to be compared to Command and Conquer. It’s set in the ‘90s, Frank Klepacki does the music, and there are two campaigns where you play as two different factions. Even the finer details, like the talking head cutscenes, and the fact that the Tempest itself is an energy-rich, alien-esque crystal, just like Tiberium - I can imagine the pitch meeting where somebody said ‘Westwood and EA aren’t making Command and Conquer anymore, so we’re going to do it’. But Slipgate’s...
